I Was A Teenage Dominatrix by Shawna Kenney is a hot little book with a cool twisted 50's title. It's all about Shawna Kenney, aka Mistress Alexis, and her amazing, empowering, enriching and often very amusing adventures as she puts herself through college by working as a professional dominatrix in the wilds of our nation's capital. It's the true tale of a bright, ambitious young lady tired of waitressing, babysitting and other odd jobs who finds relative, temporary career satisfaction in Being Paid to Be A Bitch. And it's a turn-of-the-21st-century, all-American, pull-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps success story: Shawna became the first person in her family to graduate from college, paying for books, supplies and school tuition, not to mention a nice brownstone on Capitol Hill-by practicing the art of erotically dominating a bunch of wealthy old Washington powermongers.

It's a great little book -you can read it in a few hours--and it makes spanking rich Washington lawyers, humiliating prosperous lobbyists, and unsnapping the crotch of your latex teddy to let loose a golden shower on another open-mouthed, satisfied customer, read like a primetime screwball comedy. Funny, sexy, sensitive, practical and, I think, for young women in similar circumstances, very empowering, I Was a Teenage Dominatrix playfully shows how a feminist political ideal - the Woman in Charge, the Woman Superior - is also a male sexual fantasy. In fact, it's the fantasy of some of the richest, most powerful men in the world. And yes, Republicans were more often her clients than Democrats. --DrSuzyB
